Dear Karen,

I am pleased to offer you this contract for the completion of a Watershed Level Riparian Assessment of the Upper Bowron Watershed, to be completed in accordance with the Riparian Assessment and Prescription Procedures WRP Field Guide, Draft 3A June 1996.

You will commence work on or before August 21 1, 1997 by attending a pre-work meeting with the Project Manager, Kevin Brydges, in Victoria. Upon receipt of the required air photos, forest cover and TRIM maps for the Upper Bowron watershed, you will classify the riparian vegetation in the watershed and prepare a report of your findings on or around October 3, 1997.

The draft report should include your recommendations for Site Level Riparian Assessment(s) in the watershed. You will also be responsible for delivering hand-drawn forest cover polygons on 1:20,000 maps or air photos to Carmanah with the draft report. This information will be digitized by Carmanah's GIS staff and included with the final report.

You will be responsible for editing and making revisions to your draft report following a technical review by Lee-Ann Chevrette, of Carmanah Research Ltd., and Michael Parker, the contract monitor for the Ministry of Environment, Lands and Parks (MELP). Your final report is due two weeks after you receive the draft report with revisions from MELP.

You will be paid a Lump Sum fee of $9,450.00 (excluding GST) upon completion of this contract. Up to 80% of this Lump Sum fee can be billed on October 3, 1997 when the draft report is delivered, and the remaining 20% can be billed upon delivery of the final report. This reflects Carmanah's own billing schedule to the client, West Fraser Mills.

Draft Report and Maps $7,560.00

Final Report $1,890.00

Total Contract Price $9,450.00

The Lump Sum fee of $9,450.00 includes $100.00 for phone, fax and courier expenses, and $200.00 for report supplies, photocopying and other miscellaneous office expenses. Carmanah assumes all responsibility for purchasing and delivering the air photos, forest cover maps, TRIM maps and other data necessary for you to begin work on this contract. Carmanah also assumes responsibility for the reproduction of the final report and maps, ie. printing and courier costs. However, Carmanah is not responsible for paying any of your travel expenses related to this contract. Travel costs should be minimal due to the office-oriented nature of the work.
