Okdnok This map covers the North Okanagan. Map sheets: 82I003, 82I004, 82I013, 82I014, 82I023, 82I024, 82I025, 82I034, 82I035, 82I044, 82I045, 82I054, 82I055, 82I064 Scale: 1 : 25 000 Arc_data: contains ArcInfo files that can be brought into ArcVeiw by adding a theme. The agricultural capability is okdnok_a, soils classifictaion is okdnok_s and okdnok_v is the vector file. Data_cart: use files soilcart.dbf, sc_layr1.dbf and sc_layr2.dbf to link with the soils attribute table. They can be brought into ArcView as .dbf files under tables and then linked by the "key" field. These files will display all the soil data collected in the field for that particular entry. Due to limitations of DBase the one database had to be divided into three. Working files contain, Lavan1_a.dbf and Lavan1_b.dbf which are structure files that created Okdnok1_a.dbf and Okdnok1_b.dbf. Loadsc1.prg is the program used on these files to create the linking files. See SoilCart.gif. Explaination of the three files is as follows: Soilcart.dbf (soil cartographic file) Is used to code non-depth data for every unique combination of soil name, association and soil phase(s) in the project area, including non soils. The purpose of the cartographic file is to store attribute data describing the range of chemical and physical properties associated with each soil in the project area. Sc_layer1.dbf Is used to code depth data and to store attribute data describing texture and parent material properties associated with each soil in the project area. Sc_layer2.dbf Is used to code depth data and to store attribute information describing chemical properties associated with each soil in the project area. Data Specifications: Kenk, E. and Sondheim, M.W. 1997. Data Entry and Validation Procedures for Soil, Agriculture Capability, Surficial Geology and the All Purpose Entity, CAPAMP Volume 1. British Columbia Ministry of Environment and Parks Thematic Mapping Geographic Information System (MOEP Manual, ISSN 0835-9180;10). TRANSLATION INFORMATION Source Data: Translation from IGDS files to ArcInfo coverages. PAMAP GIS used in the translation process. e00: contains the transfer files from Pamap to ArcInfo. "d" represents a database and "v" IGDS files: are the original map files that used to convert to Pamap. Pamap: contain all the pamap files that where converted from IGDS. The joined map sheets are in the okdnok83 (reprojected in Pamap from NAD27 to NAD83). Some DBase programs and Dbase files (.dbf) are also in this file which where used to manipulate the database associated with map tags. Ag_cap contains the converted IGDS files into Pamap along with Soils. Some files were missing and so had to be taken from the Capamp disk and converted to Pamap and are placed in the from igds to pamap file. ***The maps were reprojected in Pamap instead of ArcInfo do to a variation in their projection systems which would create on offset between Okdnok and Okdsok. Raw data: is the .dat files from the Capamp disc and are unaltered. Created By: Karen Moores, Boyd Porteous and Darrin Grund January, 2001
