In British Columbia, a Trapping Licence is necessary to trap on a registered trapline or on private property.
Basic Eligibility Criteria
The following criteria must be met in order to proceed with an application for a Trapping Licence:
Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada (i.e. a landed immigrant);
Must have successfully completed the Trappers Education Course;

Steps to Obtaining a NEW Trapping Licence
Review the basic eligibility criteria, to ensure you can meet the requirements.
Complete Trappers Education course.
When you complete the course, you may submit your application for licence package. The following is required in order to proceed with the licencing process:

Are there vacant traplines available for trapping?
Yes in some regions there are traplines owned by the crown, in which case the regional manager may authorize a permit to be issued for trapping. Please call for further details 1-866-433-7272 and press 2 and 5 again to bypass the telephone tree.
Do I require anything different to operate in a provincial park?
Yes, you require a Park Use Permit (P.U.P.) to operate your business. Please contact the Parks department for more information: 1-866-432-7272 – press 3 when you reach the telephone tree.
