Thompson Region Ecosystems

The Thompson region is one of the most biophysically diverse regions in the province. Ecosystems range from the coastal transition zone in the western part of the region (west Fraser) through the interior dry grasslands to the interior temperate rainforest.

The Ecosystem section has the following priorities:

• Assess ecological resources
• Review major development projects
• Manage conservation values within Parks and Protected Areas
• Gather and employ the use of science for the support of decisions around conservation and resource use.
• Develop standards for ecological management.
• Monitor the compliance with, and the effectiveness of, practices designed to protect environmental values.
• Assess ecological resources
