Innovative Forestry Societies
|
- Adams Lake – The Adam's Lake IFPA
is a ground-breaking agreement between Adams Lake Lumber (a division
of Interfor) and the B.C. Government launching a long-term vision
of sustainable forest management - an Innovative Forestry Practices
Agreement.
- Nicola Similkameen –
The Nicola-Similkameen Innovative Forestry Society brings
together distinct organizations under one umbrella. Six licensees
hold
Innovative Forestry Practices Agreements (IFPAs) on the
Merritt Timber Supply Area (TSA). Seeing the value in working
together,
they've joined with other stakeholders to establish the
Nicola-Similkameen Innovative Forestry Society and manage all
IFPAs, and the entire
Merritt TSA, as one land-base. For the first time, all
major licensees are working together to reach consensus on
resource
management strategies.
- Okanagan - The
Okanagan Innovative Forestry Society (OIFS) is a registered
non profit Society made up of forest companies and the Ministry
of Forests B.C. Timber Sales Branch in the Okanagan Timber Supply
Area to administer Innovative Forestry Practices Agreements
through one common cooperative society.
The OIFS acts as a legal Society for identifying and implementing
investment opportunities into the 1.6 million hectares of
public forest lands of the Okanagan Timbers Supply Area in
British Columbia, Canada. Investments into the forest lands
will realize improved growth of the forests which will lead
to incremental forestry jobs through timber harvesting and
enhanced silviculture activities.
